Food Enterprise Plan Review appointments are available to meet with an Austin Public Health Plan Review specialist for questions, guidance and/or preliminary plan reviews (PPR) regarding new construction/remodel of a Commercial Food Establishment.

Pool/Spa Plan Review appointments are available to meet with an Austin Public Health Plan Review specialist for questions, guidance and/or preliminary plan reviews (PPR) regarding new construction/remodel of Commercial Pool and Spas.

The Neighborhood Assistance Center (NAC) helps community stakeholders understand and navigate the City’s various development processes and the public’s role in each.  NAC can provide the community stakeholders with resources for researching a project, engaging with an applicant and requesting information from City staff. NAC can also help an applicant identify the Neighborhood Association(s) where their proposed project is located.

The Development Process Team assists homeowners and small business owners with navigating the development process between divisions for proposed improvements to their home or business. Appointments are available to answer general process questions; technical questions and determinations (e.g. code/criteria, application assistance, and/or plan requirements) will be referred to appropriate City staff.

  • Replacing exterior doors (size for size)
  • Adding/removing siding
  • Adding/removing brick
  • Adding/removing insulation
  • Repairing a roof to the extent of replacing decking boards
  • Repairing foundation without increasing impervious cover
  • Bathroom remodel (tub/shower conversions) & kitchen remodel
    • Only tub/shower/sink surround drywall can be removed
    • Walls cannot be relocated or removed
    • Plumbing fixtures cannot be relocated or added
  • Interior non-structural exploratory
    • Remove drywall/insulation only for purposes of structural observation or evaluation
    • Smoke detectors and co alarms must be to code
  • Drywall repair only
    • Repair in excess of 64 sq.ft.
    • Smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide alarms must meet code requirements

Environmental appointments are available to discuss commercial landscape requirements, watershed impervious cover limits, waterway setbacks (Critical Water Quality Zone/Water Quality Transition Zone), grading, slopes limits, and erosion controls.

Commercial Zoning: Site Plan / Transportation appointments are available for questions regarding zoning, site plan, site plan correction, site plan exemption and transportation related reviews. 
These appointments exclude one- and two-family developments; questions about one- and two-family developments should schedule an appointment for Residential Zoning.
